gard checked out today. im working on the aramark computers in the rec room. they are actually nice at 9am becuase then they aren’t full of people. i’m sure gard will have lots of nice pictures when he’s done with his drive home in 6 days. I can’t get my pictures online but I leave the 26th of august on a plane and i am excited to show my family around Denali right before hand. and if we didnt tell adam, bill is going to move into our apartment for a couple of weeks. we should keep him in the closet under the stairs. don’t let him walk around to much or you’ll spoil him, adam.

I went to Awesome Lake on Mile 82 of the park road. it was very cloudy and rainy that day. the bus ride takes 6 hours and i slept most of the way. I also took a lot of pictures of vegetation becuase there wasn’t much to look at. Later around 11pm the moon rose and Space Mountain came out below the northern lights. The next day i took too many pictures of the mountain because i was only 26 miles away from it which is as close as you can get without putting yourself at some kind of risk besides riding in a bus. The Northern Lights have been out the last 2 nights but I haven’t been able to stay up late enough to see them. Gard has some good pictures of his flightseeing tour and jeep safari and pretty pretty princess lodge but he is busy at bus wash making money for his motorcycle. I put my pictures of wonderlake up and get to work a double shift tomorrow becuase my boss bet me i cant work that long.

Matt left saturday for milwaukee. Later that day, I recieved a phone message from Smith management telling me that we could go and pick up anything we might need for the next couple of days that morning from 9am to noon. Later i figured out our apartment flooded; the basement flooded completely, leaving cars floating in water up to the ceiling. The health inspector banned everyone from the apartment until this morning. Now we can move in and hopefully our piranhas survived the flood. Gard leaves in 2 weeks and I leave in not quite 4. we squeezed in a hike to the erratic that we can see from the bus wash and morino grille and EDR. Erratics are large rocks dropped by glaciers in areas far from its original position. Many visitors mistake this erratic for a bear. We had heard rumors that the rock was actually as big as a building. When we got up to the rock we found out it was actually 2 very large rocks, neither of which was as big as the edr but they were pretty big. And I also added some pictures from a hike we did to Flattop mountain a couple of weeks ago with our friend Bill.

Solstice, Solstice+1
It’s late, I got home from work about two hours ago and felt motivated to upload some pictures and make a post. I’ve added two galleries. One of them is from the night of the summer solstice, which was surprisingly one of the darkest nights we’ve had so far because of all of the clouds. There’s also pictures from the sunset the night after the solstice (solstice+1). The other gallery is just a few pictures from our ride out to Fairbanks and back.
Everyone has their own Tax-Air hat and pair of aviator glasses in Denali.
Fairbanks was so unimpressive that I only took pictures at places we stopped on the trip. Please note: the main gallery page now has so many albums that it spans TWO PAGES! So, if you’re looking for the fairbanks album or any newer albums on there, be sure to check out the SECOND PAGE!
I created a post for these albums earlier, and when I tried to save it, my internet farted and I lost all of it. It was much more interesting before - believe me. As far as recent news, today I was promoted to “bus wash supervisor”, so now I really have some power. I got a whole 50 cent raise, which is oddly similar to a famous rapper star’s name (50 cent). I think the 50 cent raise was decided upon by some big corporate guy with a great sense of humor and a great taste in music. If you’re interested to hear more, please check out 50 cent’s website at 50cent.com.
I miss lots of people back home very much.
That is all.

I don’t want to bump Gard’s really pretty post down but I posted pictures in the gallery and It’s important to us that we recieve a lot of hits on the pictures because then Gard can argue with me whether poeple actually care about our trip or not; I’m still pretty sure people think we are coming back soon.

Hiking Healy, very far from where we started.
Hey everybody! AJ and I decided to check out the wireless internet in the lobby of the hotel here, and it’s MUCH faster than the employee wireless connection. As employees, we’re not supposed to be here, so don’t tell anyone. Because of the fast connection, I uploaded a lot more pictures, and started captioning more as well. The new albums include pictures from my lonesome hike on the Triple Lakes Trail a few weeks ago, a hike up Mount Healy (we thought we were going to the summit, which was insanely far away, and after about three hours of hiking up a steep slope, we found out that the summit wasn’t visible from the road, and was actually a few hundred more vertical feet and another hour or so away from where we were, so we decided to turn around because it was late), AJ’s and my backpacking expedition in the park, and… I think that’s about it.Also, if you want to see some pictures of a family of four Grizzly bears we saw from pretty close, check out the end of the “first trip into the park” album.Later today/tonight, I may very well finally type up a recap of our road trip for anyone who’s interested in the story behind the pictures in the gallery.
In other news, I got drug tested a few days ago. While backing up buses, you usually line the bus up, and keep going backwards until you bump the curb, and then you know to stop. Well, the spot I was backing up in didn’t have a curb, and I couldn’t tell because usually the curb disappears behind the bus anywas. So, I just kept backing up slowly, and eventually bumped a small tree. The extent of the damage was a divot in the tree, and a small sap mark on the bumper of the bus. Someone saw, so I had to report it, and got drug tested. I will be able to drive again tomorrow, assuming that nobody secretly slipped THC, alcohol, cocaine, amphetamines or opiates into my bloodstream while I wasn’t looking
